Dear Comrade,

Further to our meeting with Hon'ble Finance Minister, we addressed letters to Chairpersons of both LIC and GIPSA today seeking their immediate personal intervention to resolve pending issues of Insurance Pensioners, particularly increase in family pension, without any further loss of time.

Meeting MPs - Draft letter to FM

We draw your kind attention to our Circular No.05/2023 dt 18.05.2023 wherein we have listed out certain programmes to be implemented by our Units.

One such programme is to meet MPs and request them to address letters to Hon'ble Finance Minister requesting for grant of enhanced family pension at 30% to Insurance Pensioners as recommended by Board of LIC and Governing body of GIPSA.

A draft of the letter is attached hereto for the use of our comrades approaching MPs.

Needless to add, a copy of the letter sent by MP must be obtained for our records.

We request all Units to undertake the task in right earnest and complete it within next 2 months as decided in our CC meeting.

GROUP MEDICLAIM POLICY-2023-24 Some salient features.

LIC has renewed the Group Mediclaim Scheme for

the year 2023-24 also with New India Assurance Company Ltd.

As per CO communication vide ED Personnel / ER -A 315 dtd 31.3.2023, renewed Mediclaim Policy for the year 2023-24 has certain changes

Compulsory family floater Sum Assured and corresponding benefit category have been revised wef 1.4.23

@ Up to Basic Pay Rs 96,139-Category 2 -Rs 10,00,000 (Compulsory family floater sum Assured )

@ Rs 96,140 Basic Pay and above-Category 1 -Rs 15,00,000 (Compulsory family floater sum Assured )

Earlier compulsory floater sum assured used to be Rs 5 Lakh ,Rs 6 Lakh & Rs 10 Lakh only ,depending upon basic pay of the employee*

Now ,that has been substantially improved to 2 categories(Rs 10 lakh & Rs 15 Lakh ).

Subsidy in premium is available for increased floater also.

The room rent limit in A class city is Rs 7,500 Per Day.( Rs.10,000 per day for those who opted for Sum Insured Rs. 40 lakhs , Rs. 50 lakhs & Rs 75 Lakhs)

For all categories, the Room rent limit for B class cities is Rs.6,000 per day

For other Cities -Rs 4,000 Per Day

Very Important Point -Incase of admission to Hospital Room at rates beyond the above rates,the reimbursement of Expenses (Other than Cost of Medicines,Drugs and Implants),shall be reduced proportionately as per eligible Category in the Hospital

There is NO capping /Ceiling in case of ICU/ICCU Expenses

Room rents are exclusive of GST

18% GST on Premium payable by Employees/Retired Employees.However,GST on Subsidy on Premium shall be borne by the Corporation only

Under the new policy ,Insured can avail the facility of International Medical Second Opinion on treatment of Critical Conditions /Diseases

Facility of Tele consultation(24/7 Online) through Medi buddy Application

One Medical Examiner for Emergency purpose at premises of Central Office and each Zonal Office shall be made available through TPAs from 11 am to 4 pm on working Days

All other details will be provided in the Policy Bond ,to be issued later

Dear Comrades,

  • Warm congratulations to Insurance Pensioners for making the Dharna programme at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and countrywide demonstrations before Offices of LIC & PSGI Companies on the demands of enhancement of Family Pension at an uniform rate of 30% and periodical updation of Pension a thumping succes.

  • We express our sincere thanks to AIIEA and all its units throughout the Country for joining demonstrations in all centres expressing solidarity to struggles of Pensioners.

  • At Central Office, after massive demonstration a delegation of AIIPA met Chairperson, LIC of India and apprised him of our demands. Chairperson assured to continue to pursue vigorously with Central Government the issue of enhancement of Family Pension @30%. He is hopeful of resolution of the issue at the earliest.

  • In New Delhi, after Dharna a Delegation of AIIPA consisting of Coms Satanjib Das, President, J Gurumurthy, Vice President and M Kunhikrishnan, General Secretary met DFS officials and submitted a memorandum. The delegation pressed for early resolution of the Family Pension issue. The officials were receptive. We shall follow up the issue further.

Preparations are in full swing for successful conduct of Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on 29th March, 2023. Com ML Setia, Vice President, AIIPA, senior Comrades AK Bhatnagar and VP Arora are overseeing the arrangements.

We are very happy to announce that Com Shrikant Mishra, General Secretary, AIIEA has agreed to greet the Dharna participants. Com Tapan Sen, General Secretary, CITU and Com Elamaram Kareem, MP & CPI(M) Party Leader, Rajya Sabha also consented to address the comrades. Hopefully, Com Binoy Viswam, MP, CPI Party Leader, Rajya Sabha also will attend. We are in touch with other leaders seeking their support and presence.

The LIC has announced 8000 vacancies for recruitment to the Post of Assistant throughout the country. This is a significant step in the background of unprecedented unemployment situation in India. The All India Insurance Employees’ Association (AIIEA) which is the oldest and largest trade union of insurance employees had invested lot of energy in agitating for recruitment.
